Holiday Yumminess!

Let the pork yumminess begin...
Ta da!

We tried a new pork recipe I found on Epicurious and it was amazing...we kinda improvised and made it even better with apple and pear stuffing and a lingonberry preserves (a fantastic IKEA product) and brandy glaze. The potatoes are a specialty of my little sis - even though she couldn't make it here until New Years - she was here in spirit (we called her for the recipe) mom wanted "Beth's taters" *laughs* The stuffing was so yummiliscious!
Ryan and I sooo need our own cooking show!

To top off this fantastic meal - Ryan's most delicious blueberry honey mead!
We ate like kings and queens!

Xmas Morning...

Shaney and his new Steelers skull cap looking all hood-like!
...look at baby Sheldon peeking out from behind daddy...
Mommie Dearest liking her new warm and cuddly polar bear jammies.

Sweet Surprises...

A new book from Very Mary arrived in the mail the day before Christmas...THANK YOU!...and check out the gorgeous way it came packaged...
I love my internet blogging buddies!

For my fellow Diva's....

Grab your boa and tiara - toss one hand on your hip (or grab your sweetie) and shake your other finger in the air - now start shakin' yer ass...
here's one more video....
ENJOY!
*hugs*

Preparation...

The preparation for the 9 days visit of Mommie Dearest has begun. *hides the wire hangers* Although I am certain I inherited my pack-rat-iveness from Mommie Dearest - I still feel the need to straighten up so she at least has a place to sit and sleep. I have purchased a ceramic electric heater, electric blanket, 2 down conforters and stock piled several other blankets - everything but melt the snow from around the perimeter of the house - and I am sure Mommie Dearest will still be cold! This confuses me - I grew up in Jersey, not California - I am pretty sure it was cold at times when I was younger! I can recall putting Wonder Bread bags over my socks before I put my boots on to keep my feet dry! *embarrassing school coat room moments*
I have her suggested shopping list: Non-fat milk, coffee (must be half regular and half decaf - definitely nothing flavored!), bologna, american cheese and whole wheat wraps *laughs* and hard boiled eggs! (hmmm... a new holiday craft - Yulemas egg decorating anyone?)
I want to share a song that brought a tear to my eye today - although I have heard it several hundered times - it is on one of my favorite Holiday CD's by the DevineMissM *love her*
Ok - dry your eyes - here's another to cheer you up from the same CD - Mele Kalikimaka!
Bette is my idol! Totally fell in love with her watching her live concerts or TV shows when I was younger with Mommie Dearest! *was kidding about the hangers!*
Here's another great video from Bette - Hawiian Oklahoma from a NBC 1977 TV special
Ok...I suppose I better get back to dusting and scrubbing and find my bikini *laughs* (now there's a holiday visual!) I am sure it will be a sauna in here starting tomorrow night - I pick her up at the airport at midnight!
*warm winter bear hugs*

Joyous Yuletide

Dec. 21st, we enter the belly of the night.
Winter Solstice: We come to the portal that separates darkness from light. Standing in this arch of time where Earth takes a breath before facing us back towards the sun, we too, take a breath, turn inward, pause in this pregnant moment and let darkness reveal its gifts:
Winter Solstice: A time to look back at the year gone by, gather its lessons and put them in the stew of your life. Time to let the heat of your presence cook the stew. Render the lessons into the sweet nectar of wisdom. Then drink of it. One-small-sip-at-a-time.
Winter Solstice: A time to let the longest night of the year seduce you into stillness. Time to silence inner voices, listen to the beating of your own heart. Time to breathe slowly, become the breath. Linger here. The night is long.
Winter Solstice: Time to savor the sweetness of the dark. Nothing to fear. It's only you. And millions of years of Earth's turning; away and then back, away and then back towards the light. It's all you. The dark, the light, the fire, the night: it's all you. You're all it. Sweet oneness, savored in the dark.
Winter Solstice: A sacred link, where Earth's veil thins, the unseen, seen. Images of ancestors and ancient roots threading back beyond time. Back to first humans, their fires still burning to call back the light. We are the ones who hold them sacred. We honor their struggles, their triumphs. We're here due to them. They gave us our blood.
Winter Solstice: A time to reflect on your life in this moment. Like never before, or ever again, reflect on this sweet, fragile moment.
Winter Solstice: A time to let go of what burdens. Empty out stones sitting heavy in the heart. Let bygones be bygones. Acknowledge. Forgive. Begin again.
Winter Solstice: A fertile time, a time to ready the womb; a time for pregnant possibility. A time to sow seeds of imagination, to germinate in the darkness. A time to tend the inner hearth; be warmed by the coals of creativity.
Winter Solstice: The union of opposites. Fullness: emptying. Emptiness: filling. The shortest day meets the longest night. Celebrate the dark. Greet the light. We've journeyed long; we've journeyed far. In summer, we rejoiced in the sun, now absent. In winter, we settle into the night, now present. We draw inward, tuck in our wings to keep warm. All flights are canceled.
Winter Solstice: A time to check inner weather and road conditions. Are you cold? Are you hot? Are you merely lukewarm? Is it stormy? Is it balmy? Are there blue skies inside? Does the road rise to meet you? Are you on shaky ground? Is it smooth? Is it rocky? Can you see where you are?
Winter Solstice: Can you be with it all, just as it is? No fighting, no trying, no pushing the river. It flows by itself, so you watch it. You notice. You see twigs and branches submerged in the stream of your life. Without effort, the water flows over, under and around it all. Nothing can stop it; it goes on forever. Like you do. Like I do. Like we do.
May you go on forever, like this most pregnant night of the year.

A brief ritual to include in your observance of Winter Solstice:
1) Set aside at least 30 minutes, preferably longer, but whatever works for you is fine.
2) Include friends, family members, or celebrate alone if you prefer. It all works.
3) Settle in, light some candles. Build a fire, if you have a fireplace.
4) Spend time with your eyes closed, breathing slowly, watching the breath.
5) Let your awareness settle down in your belly. Sense it, feel it fill and empty. See your life coming and going on each inhale and exhale. Feel the strength and fragility of each breath.
6) Reflect on your connection with the universe and your place in it. Who are you in the grandest scheme of things?
7 ) Remain in silence for a few minutes after you've finished.
Savor the moment.

Ho Ho Hooooo!!!

No matter what anyone tells you - you are NEVER too old to sit on Santa's Lap!
*laughs* sorry folks - I had to share...back to decorating my Holiday pumpkin!
(pictures coming soon...)

Meditation

Awesome! Thank you Rose! Your wise words really helped me focus those voices in my head last night for class. We did a few meditation excercises and in the past I always had serious issues with mindless chatter and it always distracted me so I couldn't focus. Working together with the voices instead of trying to silence them worked! You are truely a goddess of inspiration and wisdom! *hugs*

Shhh! Quiet you three!

I have read all my homework for Christopher's class - I have but one question . . . How do I get all my minds (Concious Mind, Psychic Mind and Devine Mind) to stop all their partying in my head and keep the noise down? They are constantly at each other's throats - in my head anyways!
Ok - back to working on my Bua!
*hugs to all*

Snot and Tissue

*sniff, snort, cough!* I seriously hate being sick! I am probably the biggest baby too when I am sick - I keep telling the boys that this is the worst cold anyone has ever had - yet I get no sympathy for them at all! See what happens when I travel and forget my Zicam - now I have a full fledge cold! *sniff, snort!*

Going to drag my snotty self to shower, possibly venture out and pay rent and then read my chapter for Christopher's Witchcraft I class - oooo and create a special package for a friend who says she fails to have the holiday spirit - that always cheers me up!

Hope everyone is having a fantastic, snottless weekend! *hugs*

Rantings from my hotel

Ahhh yes - I do so love the holidays! I totally love Christmas music - I even start listening to it in my car before Thanksgiving (yes, I have been called crazy!) I even have to have a Christmas music cd limit of 2 - otherwise I buy every one I like (which some years has been 7 or 8 between Ryan and I) This year so far I bought 2 (Sarah Brightman and Loreena McKennitt), but I don't care much for Brightman's so I may give it as a gift - so that means I can buy one more - Harry Connick's What a Night - yes folks - Harry will be mine very soon! *mmm Harry!*
~ Ry asked this on his live journal - I will ask it here - What is your favorite Christmas song and why?

Sitting here in a hotel watching Christmas at Rockafella Center and bee bopping around with my Yuengling (free beer on Wednesday in the hotel lobby and I grabbed 2) After this I will watch The Victoria Secret Special to get wing ideas for my "good fearie"costume for next years Fearicon! The Jona'sBrothers are on now - they are adorable - I suppose they are the modern version of the Osmonds or the Jackson's (The Jackson 5 could so kick the Osmonds butts!) *swoons* I still remember always picking David Cassidy or Leaf Garrett as my husband when we would play barbies (*laughs* do they still even have Tiger Beat magazine?) Who was your favorite Tiger Beat cover guy?

I did squats and lunges down the hotel 3rd floor hallway since I shrugged off the gym for the beers :p will be sore as shit tomorow - I am sure...spinning is sooooo much easier! (note: I did the squats before the beer - not with beer in hand!) I think I am coming down with Ryan's darn cold - itchy throat, stuffy head, and just not feeling like myself. Figures I get sick - I have off Friday and Saturday - will have to spend the day cuddled in my down comforter with Ryan's concoction of "cold be gone" tea - of course I will chase it with my Zicam tablets! (Zicam rules!)

So I suppose that's it for now - hope y'all are keeping warm and toasty and you aren't coming down with Ry's cold too! Here's wishing for lots of snow!!! *warm bear hugs* ....from a distance since I may be getting sick ;)

PS. oooo - the Rockafella Center tree is beautiful!

The beginning of our fabulous holiday mantle...however, everything came to a screeching stop when we discovered we didn't have a power strip and it was either the tree or the TV...

*more love and hugs*

A day of decorating...

This folks is the start of our Yulemas Tree...I can not take any credit - other then a few additions you will see next - it was all Ry! He is like my own personal Yulemas elf!

...any ideas?

Lastly, for today anyway - the tree I decorated for the Sterling House Fundraiser +
